Privacy notice

1.Who we are and how to contact us

BizTeach Ltd. [company number to confirm], Donegal, Ireland, is the data controller for personal data processed through bizteach.ie and, from launch, the BizTeach learning platform. Our founder is Wendy Smyth, a Business and Special Educational Needs teacher.

For anything about your data, email info@bizteach.ie or write to us at the address above. We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer because we are not required to, but data protection questions go straight to the founder [to confirm].

2.What this notice covers

This notice covers the public website (bizteach.ie) as it is today, and describes how the learning platform will handle data when it opens in September 2026. We will update it before launch and will tell early access members what has changed.

It should be read alongside our Cookie information, Terms of use, Safeguarding statement and Acceptable use of AI, all linked from the footer.

3.The personal data we collect

On the website today:

• Early access form: first name, email address, whether you are a student, teacher or parent or guardian, your consent choice, and the date and time you joined.
• Feedback form: the message you write and the topic chip you pick. This form is anonymous; we do not ask for your name or email.
• Email and phone: whatever you choose to tell us when you contact us.
• Technical data: our hosting provider [to confirm] records standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps) to keep the site running and secure.
• Cookies and similar storage: only strictly necessary items. See our Cookie information.

On the platform, from launch, we expect to also process: your account details (name, email, school year and level), your learning progress and quiz results, accessibility settings such as text size or read-aloud, the questions you ask Biz and the work you paste in for feedback, and, for paid plans, billing records held by our payment provider [to confirm].

4.Why we use it and our legal basis

The GDPR requires a lawful basis for each purpose. Ours are:

• Sending you the free resource pack and early access updates: your consent (Article 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link or by emailing us.
• Replying to your feedback, questions and support requests: our legitimate interest in running and improving BizTeach (Article 6(1)(f)).
• Providing the platform once you have an account: performance of our contract with you (Article 6(1)(b)).
• Keeping the site secure and preventing abuse: our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)).
• Keeping records we are legally required to keep, such as tax and accounting records: legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)).
• Acting on a safeguarding concern: legal obligation and, where necessary, the vital interests of a child (Articles 6(1)(c) and 6(1)(d)).

We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for advertising or to build marketing profiles.

5.Children and young people

BizTeach is built for Senior Cycle students, most of whom are aged 15 to 19. Under section 31 of the Data Protection Act 2018, the digital age of consent in Ireland is 16. If you are under 16, a parent or guardian must sign up with you and give consent on your behalf, and we will ask for that at account creation.

We follow the Data Protection Commission's Fundamentals for a Child-Oriented Approach to Data Processing. In practice that means: we collect the minimum we need, we do not profile children for marketing, we show no advertising, we write our notices in plain language, and we default settings to the most protective option.

If we learn that we have collected data from a child without the required consent, we will delete it. Parents and guardians can contact info@bizteach.ie about their child's data.

6.How Biz, our AI study coach, uses your data

When you ask Biz a question or paste in work for feedback, that text is sent to an AI model provider [provider to confirm] to generate a reply. We send only what is needed to answer, and we do not send your name or account details with it.

Your questions and pasted work are not used to train the AI model. We keep conversation logs for a limited period so that we can investigate safety concerns and improve Biz's guidance [retention period to confirm].

Biz does not make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects. Its feedback is study guidance, not a grade, and it never affects any official result. You always have the right to have a human at BizTeach review anything Biz has said.

7.Who we share data with

We share personal data only with providers who process it on our instructions under written contracts, and only as needed to run BizTeach:

• Form and email services that receive your early access sign-up and send the resource pack [provider to confirm].
• Our hosting provider [to confirm].
• The AI model provider that powers Biz [to confirm].
• A payment provider for paid plans, when they launch [to confirm]. We never see or store your full card details.
• Professional advisers such as accountants and solicitors, where necessary.

We will disclose data to An Garda Síochána, Tusla, the courts or a regulator where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect a child or another person from harm. See our Safeguarding statement.

8.International transfers

We aim to keep personal data in the European Economic Area. Where a provider processes data outside the EEA, we rely on a European Commission adequacy decision or the Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, together with any extra safeguards needed. You can ask us for details of the safeguards in place.

9.How long we keep data

• Early access list: until launch and for 12 months after, or until you unsubscribe, whichever comes first.
• Feedback messages: 24 months, then deleted.
• Support emails: 24 months after the query is closed.
• Server logs: 30 days [to confirm with hosting provider].
• Platform accounts: for as long as the account is open, then 12 months, after which data is deleted or anonymised. You can delete your account at any time.
• Billing records: 6 years, as required by Irish tax law.

10.How we protect it

The site is served over HTTPS. Access to personal data is limited to the people who need it, protected by strong passwords and multi-factor authentication. Providers are chosen for their security practices and bound by contract. If a personal data breach is likely to put your rights at risk, we will tell you and the Data Protection Commission as the law requires.

11.Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask us to:

• give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you (access);
• correct anything inaccurate or incomplete (rectification);
• delete your data (erasure), where there is no overriding reason to keep it;
• limit how we use it (restriction);
• give you your data in a portable format (portability);
• stop processing based on legitimate interests (objection);
• withdraw consent at any time, without affecting anything done before you withdrew.

Email info@bizteach.ie to exercise any of these. We will reply within one month, free of charge, and may ask you to confirm your identity first.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission, 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2, D02 RD28, www.dataprotection.ie. We would appreciate the chance to resolve it first.

12.Changes to this notice

We will update this notice when our processing changes, and always before the platform launches. The date at the top shows the latest version. Where a change is significant, we will email account holders and early access members.
